Singer Firerose has spoken about her brief and difficult marriage to country star Billy Ray Cyrus, which lasted just eight months. In an interview with Stellar magazine, she looked back on their relationship, which began in 2020 after they reconnected during the pandemic. Firerose expressed regret, saying, “If I could go back, I’d tell my 22-year-old self to run when I first met him,” referring to their initial meeting on the set of *Hannah Montana* in 2010.
She revealed that their October 2023 marriage soon became filled with emotional isolation and manipulation, with Cyrus gradually cutting her off from friends and family through fear tactics. Firerose recalled him saying, “You’re a Cyrus now. You can’t go to church or public places—people will follow you and kill you.” Though hurt, she initially saw his behavior as protective.
Firerose also mentioned that Cyrus blamed her for his personal and professional struggles, adding to the strain on their marriage. Now out of the relationship, she wants to raise awareness about toxic dynamics like the ones she experienced, which she believes are more common than people think. Cyrus has not yet responded to her claims.
