Tehran denies providing ballistic missiles to Moscow
DUBAI: Iran condemned the latest sanctions imposed by the EU and the UK, denying allegations that it supplied ballistic missiles to Russia. This statement was made by a spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry on X on Tuesday.
On Monday, the European Union announced sanctions targeting seven individuals and seven organizations, including Iran Air, due to their connections to the alleged transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia. Concurrently, the UK added nine new designations to its sanctions list against Iran.
Esmaeil Baghaei, the spokesperson for Iran’s foreign ministry, dismissed claims that Iran has militarily engaged in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. “Some European countries and the UK have unfortunately made unsubstantiated claims about Iran’s involvement, which we completely reject,” he stated.
According to Maqsoud Asadi Samani, Secretary of the Association of Iranian Airlines, the sanctions will result in a suspension of all Iranian airline flights to Europe.
The sanctions also target Saha Airlines, Mahan Air, and Iran’s Deputy Defence Minister Seyed Hamzeh Ghalandari. Additionally, high-ranking officials from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, as well as directors of Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industries and the Aerospace Industries Organization, are included in the sanctions, which entail asset freezes and travel bans to the EU.
