OTTAWA: Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated on Wednesday that there are “clear indications” of India’s violation of Canadian sovereignty.
During a hearing on foreign interference, Trudeau discussed the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar and described a broader campaign by representatives of the Indian government targeting Canadian citizens.
“We have clear, and increasingly clear, evidence that India has violated Canada’s sovereignty,” Trudeau told the inquiry.
He added that when Ottawa raised these concerns with New Delhi, “the Indian response to these allegations and our investigations was to intensify attacks on this government… and to arbitrarily expel dozens of Canadian diplomats from India.”
